BUSH BOYS - A REVIEW

TO CELEBRATE the extraordinary, thrilling, exciting, adventurous, interesting, and suspenseful Australian series of novels — The Bush Boys, written by Fr James Tierney. Definitely well-worth reading, and one of my favourites. The best Australian novels ever! Especially for boys!

Bush Boys have been a great pleasure for me to read since I was young, and my family (brothers) have also enjoyed them immensely, and have grown up with them.

It is very easy for boys (or girls) to love the Bush Boys. We (family) enjoy the novels because they have simple, exciting and interesting plots, characters, and so on.

To put it plainly, the novels are written superbly, and are packed with fun and adventure that would keep any boy excited (as it did for us) for days. What makes the books even better though is the mixture of fun/adventure the boys go through, along with the simple, domestic and educational side of things as well, not to mention the prominent Catholic traits presented.
When you read this book, and the detailed and often very humorous descriptions of certain aspects of the boys' family life, you (I do anyway) cannot help but laugh, and see the similarities in your own family. The smacking rule, and way many things are done - Rosary, teeth, toilet, prayers and bed rule the boys have to comply with, etc, to say just a few.

They are typical homeschooling family routines (if you're a homeschooler you'll know what I mean). Little things like this that are easily picked up, make the books as good as they are.

There are a great number of reasons why the novels are great. One of my personal things I and many other boys especially like are the inclusion of fights and a bit of boyish violence/action. This, I think, is what gets boys in the most: the idea that a simple camping trip turns out for the characters to be a dangerous and exciting encounter with bad guys, ending with a deadly battle, or chase.

Bush Boys are an asset for young Catholics to read, or anyone keen for adventure.
